Dear Shiloh Family,

Remember that elementary music class?  You know, the one where you had to take a score of sheet music home, learn it, and then sing it on Friday.  I do, and for some, it was horrible.  Well, it was that day.  The young man slugged to the front of the class, hair disheveled, shoulders low, eyes down, and mouth as dry as cotton.  He cleared his throat and began.

“Hummm” …There was a pause.  “Hummm” ...silence.  Then came a fairly good humming rendition of a couple of bars in the song.  Sheepishly, the lad panoramically scanned the room, raised his eyebrows to the teacher, and exclaimed, “I know da tun, but I fowgot da woyds.”

I get it!  I’m in the same quandary.   Reflecting upon the love that was extended to Anita and me last week during our quarantine, the song in my heart is one of joy, family, gratitude, and blessing.  However, I just don’t have the proper words to adequately express the depth of love for my church family.  The words of my mouth are better understood in the meditation of my heart.

Philippians 1:7-8: 7 It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart; for whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God's grace with me. 8 God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.  NIV

Psalm19:14: 14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. KJV

I don’t often repeat material in the body of the newsletter, but I feel the importance to restate a few thoughts from last week. Many have been, and will continue to be, affected by this virus.  In fact, I believe we all will eventually get one variant or another.  However, we can choose to allow it to defeat us, or use it as an opportunity for ministry.  I encourage everyone to continue to support the ministries of Shiloh, both financially and in attendance.  We will press through!  If you are not sick, your presence is needed on Sunday.  If you know someone who has been quarantined, leave an unexpected blessing on the doorstep.  Use this as an invitation to lift someone’s spirit.  Turn mayhem into ministry.

Psalm 28:7: 7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore, my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. KJV

Men, I’m exited to announce the spring fishing retreat to the White River.  We are partnering with Brother David Haynes and Lake Drive Baptist Church.  The event will be May 18-21, and the cost is $600.00.  If you are interested in going, please, get with David Wilson, or contact the church office.

We are intently monitoring the potential winter storm that is moving from west to east.  We will probably not make a decision until early Sunday morning, so it is imperative that you monitor your churchcast emails and Shiloh app.  As of now, all services are still happening as scheduled.

The expression of love is often loudest when it is doled out from the silence of the heart.

God bless you all,
Pastor Derrell

Refer to the ministry announcements for new times and locations in various ministries.

General Announcements:  If you have announcements for the newsletter or Sunday morning service, please get them to Melissa by 12:00 PM on Wednesday.  This will allow the AV team to process relative schedules, letters, videos, etc

Covid News: Your startup team, who kept us safe through the original crises, is monitoring the virus situation.  We are continuing to sanitize the main auditorium and outlying areas.   If you are concerned about social distancing, you might consider coming to the early (8:30 AM) service because the numbers are somewhat less.  However, there is still room in the second service as well.  I encourage you to continue attending, but please, be considerate of those who are more vulnerable or might have concerns.

Please!  If you are sick, have experienced symptoms in recent days, or think you might have been exposed, stay home.  We can’t eliminate the virus, but we can help prevent an outbreak in our church.

ONLINE GIVING: We are pleased to announce our new text giving platform. Simply text the word "Give" to (844) 949-4039. You can also use our smartphone app. You can still give via mail as well.

The church address is:  Shiloh Baptist Church, 24 Kay St., Rossville, GA  30741.

We will continue to stream the 11:00 service as usual.  If you are sick, please stay home.  The staff and I understand how uncomfortable mass gatherings can be for some of you during these unusual times.    We don’t want anyone to feel pressured into coming if you are not comfortable doing so.

If you choose to meet at the church during the week, PLEASE!  Let Melissa know the time and location (room) for your ministries.  It is imperative that we coordinate all gatherings at the church. If you have questions about Shiloh ministries, contact us at secretary@shilohbaptistministry.com.
