Dear Shiloh Family,

If you dare, allow the pages of the past to be opened to that telling moment when Toto pulled back the curtain.  Remember the great gasp from the actors and audience when the great Oz was revealed?  The search for wisdom, courage, heart, and the way home fell in the hands of an old man behind the scenes.  However, after their initial shock, anger, and frustration subsided, the searchers discovered his advice was sound, and that they had progressively been achieving their goals along the journey.

Along the Christian pathway, we are seeking many of the same attributes and direction as did the adventurers in their quest to see the wizard.   We come to church expecting God to supernaturally impose His will in our lives, change us, and show us the way home…and He does.  He is changing lives in and around our Shiloh community daily.

Psalm27:4:4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple. KJV

Matthew 6:33: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. KJV

However, when we pull back the curtain, and peer behind the scenes, we find that God is using the ministries of Shiloh to implement His plan. Backstage we find the security team, men’s ministry, ladies ministry and small groups. We discover leaders in our nursery, children’s’ and student ministries.  One might discover weekly Bible studies, showers, building teams and finance committees.  Around the corner might appear our secretary, Student minister or one of our faithful deacons. The congregation worships to one of the greatest music teams ever assembled, and consequently, the teacher/preacher’s voice is clearly heard because the unseen men in the balcony work diligently to present the best A/V experience possible. And most importantly are the folks we may never see…the prayer warriors of Shiloh Baptist Church.

1 Tim 2:1-2:  2 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men.  NKJV

James 5:16:  16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. NIV

Last year, I led two separate 13 week discipleship groups…one with the men, and another with the ladies.  I am excited to announce the first couples’ discipleship group.  Jamie and Anthony Starr will be conducting the couples’ DLife Bible study.  It will be held in the FLC and will begin Tuesday, February 22 at 6:45 PM.  Please sign up with Anthony, Jamie, or contact Melissa in the office.

This Sunday, we will be observing the Lord’s Supper (Communion).  You will notice the ropes are up again.  This is for one service only and will allow the deacons to better navigate the pews while they serve communion.

Praying without ceasing indicates a heart that is constantly preparing.

God bless you all,

Pastor Derrell

Refer to the ministry announcements for new times and locations in various ministries.

General Announcements:  If you have announcements for the newsletter or Sunday morning service, please get them to Melissa by 12:00 PM on Wednesday.  This will allow the AV team to process relative schedules, letters, videos, etc…

Covid News: Your startup team, who kept us safe through the original crises, is monitoring the virus situation.  We are continuing to sanitize the main auditorium and outlying areas.   If you are concerned about social distancing, you might consider coming to the early (8:30 AM) service because the numbers are somewhat less.  However, there is still room in the second service as well.  I encourage you to continue attending, but please, be considerate of those who are more vulnerable or might have concerns.

Please!  If you are sick, have experienced symptoms in recent days, or think you might have been exposed, stay home.  We can’t eliminate the virus, but we can help prevent an outbreak in our church.

ONLINE GIVING: We are pleased to announce our new text giving platform. Simply text the word "Give" to (844) 949-4039. You can also use our smartphone app. You can still give via mail as well.

The church address is:  Shiloh Baptist Church, 24 Kay St., Rossville, GA  30741.

We will continue to stream the 11:00 service as usual.  If you are sick, please stay home.  The staff and I understand how uncomfortable mass gatherings can be for some of you during these unusual times.    We don’t want anyone to feel pressured into coming if you are not comfortable doing so.

If you choose to meet at the church during the week, PLEASE!  Let Melissa know the time and location (room) for your ministries.  It is imperative that we coordinate all gatherings at the church. If you have questions about Shiloh ministries, contact us at secretary@shilohbaptistministry.com.

YEARLY TAX STATEMENTS:  Your annual charitable contribution statements are ready and are located in the main auditorium vestibule.

PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS:  If you would like to meet to discuss membership at Shiloh, I would love to meet with you between the two morning services from 10:00 – 10:30 AM.  Please schedule the appointment through the church office.
