Pastor's Post 1/5/2023

Dear Shiloh Family,

     It’s just a large glass jar Dad placed beside his desk many years ago.  I’ve changed a few things in the Pastor’s office, but not the jar.  You see, the clear container brightens the faces and twinkles the eyes of small visitors every week; it is filled with brightly colored suckers.  So, after the service next Sunday, when you see your Pastor being led by a band of dancing toddlers, followed by a parade of parents and grandparents, don’t fret.  They are not being called into the “principles’ office. They are headed for the treasure.  They’ll grab a treat, gaze at a few of the trinkets, crank on a small musical windmill desk ornament, and scamper on their way.  And I love it!

      Our wise Pastor Emeritus knew that children needed to feel safe and loved at church and especially around their shepherd. He and I have strategically placed interesting items around the office to spark conversation and promote a welcome environment.   I pray that everyone understands the invitation is extended to youth and adults as well.  Parents, you can even have a sucker as long as they last, but children come first.

     I’m glad my Heavenly Father’s door is always open for me.  He openly invites me into his presence.  Our wise creator has placed items of interest along the way…items which are unique to my tastes (and yours as well if you choose to enter).  However, the God of the universe not only welcomes us in, He beckons His children to crawl up into His lap and address Him as Abba, Father, Pappa, Daddy. 

Hebrews 4:16

16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. KJV

     In February, I would like to initiate an event that will further extend proof of Shiloh’s love for our young ones. We began a building program several years ago that was designed for the safety and ministry of our youth and children.  The last Sunday in February will be designated as “Chest of Joash Day”. All the proceeds will go toward the payoff of our existing loan on the “New Building”.  More information will be given as days progress.  Please pray for what the Lord would have you contribute to this event.  

Children see love much better than the hear it.
