Dear Shiloh Family,

Mom’s dinner table was never too small.  No matter how many deacons, singers, evangelists, or friends Dad invited over, there was a place for everyone.  And one only needs to unleash the bonds of imagination even begin to understand what Monica, Terry, and I dragged through the door.  There was always another chair, one more plate, an extra glass, plenty of sweet tea, and no one went away hungry.

Upon entering our house, one might have encountered a dining room filled with ties and suits, camo hats soaked with animal and outdoor scents (really allow your imagination to run wild with that one), sweaty athletic attire, or giggly girls bedazzled with all the frills.  And though the facial features varied, the expressions were much the same…happy, contented, and accepted.  Should yet another guest unexpectedly have entered, Mom’s voice would be heard over the banter, “Come on in, I have a place already set, just for you.”

Matthew 11:28: Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. KJV

As I meander through the Shiloh campus on Wednesday and Sunday, I see both familiar and new faces serving at many different tables of ministry.  Young and old are feasting on the love and care being doled out by the body of Christ.  Our worship services are becoming packed with folks from all walks of life.  I see faces that beam with happiness, contentment, praise, and conviction.  I am overwhelmed to hear more and more of you say, “Welcome, come on in.  We have a place just for you.”

Brothers and sisters, don’t forget the reason we do what we do.  One day we will be invited to a great supper.  We will be asked to sit down at a table prepared by God Himself for His son’s bride.  There will be a chair just for you, and a place with your name on it.  Not one person in the bridal party will be turned away.  He has plenty of chairs.  Keep filling seats.  Close your eyes and listen.  You can almost hear Jesus saying, “Come on in, I have a place just for you!”

Revelation 19:9-10: 9 Then he said to me, "Write: 'Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!'" And he said to me, "These are the true sayings of God."  NKJV

God wouldn’t ask us to fill the house if he didn’t have the accommodations.

God bless you all,

Pastor Derrell
