Dear Shiloh Family,

Did a similar conversation occur at your house?

“How many of those brownies have you had?  I know you have eaten at least three, and one cupcake (a Nothing Bundt Cake). Don’t eat any more sweets until you ask your Mama.”

Later…

”Hey!  Did you ask your Mom if you could have that cupcake?”
“No, I asked Daddy.”
“And he said you could have it?
“Yes, Poppy, it’s a HEALTHY cupcake.”

"Well, OK." I told him to enjoy. In fact, I got another one for myself, with extra icing.

Then, in another part of the kitchen, my son-in-law stepped between my daughter and my little sister, set a cup of water on the counter, took a step back and declared, “This is my water.  Don’t touch it.”  I’m sure he was just following Covid protocol…right. At which time Jordan and Monica, never took their eyes off Stevie, never looked at one another, simultaneously extended their pointer finger, raised their eyebrows, performed the female head bob, and in unison, slowly and deliberately initiated a wide arc with their fingers and touched his off-limits drink. Realizing they had pulled off an unplanned plan, they burst into joyous guffaws.

I pray that your Thanksgiving was filled with family and fun, laughter and love, gratitude and grace. I also hope you got plenty of healthy cupcakes, brownies, and all the main course trimmings, and that no one touched your glass of water.

This Sunday, Don Pinson, with Heritage Ministries will be speaking in both services. He will discuss how our nation definitely began as a Christian nation, and even our government was based on Biblical principles.  Please, don’t miss it!  He is coming strictly on faith and your love gift. Please help us take care of Don and the Heritage Ministry. You can give in advance by designating your gift on the online giving app. We will also receive an offering after each service.

I’m proud to announce that you took all the students from the Angel Tree.  God bless you all, I know you will shower them well. Also, I can’t wait to share the results of the Christmas Child donations and blankets and socks for the homeless.

Thanksgiving is more than just a one-time holiday; it is a matter of the heart that becomes a lifestyle.

God bless you all,

Pastor Derrell

Refer to the ministry announcements for new times and locations in various ministries.

General Announcements:  If you have announcements for the newsletter or Sunday morning service, please get them to Melissa by 12:00 PM on Wednesday.  This will allow the AV team to process relative schedules, letters, videos, etc…

Covid News: Your startup team, who kept us safe through the original crises, is monitoring the virus situation.  We are continuing to sanitize the main auditorium and outlying areas.   If you are concerned about social distancing, you might consider coming to the early (8:30 AM) service because the numbers are somewhat less.  However, there is still room in the second service as well.  I encourage you to continue attending, but please, be considerate of those who are more vulnerable or might have concerns.

Please!  If you are sick, have experienced symptoms in recent days, or think you might have been exposed, stay home.  We can’t eliminate the virus, but we can help prevent an outbreak in our church.

If you choose to meet at the church during the week, PLEASE!  Let Melissa know the time and location (room) for your ministries.  It is imperative that we coordinate all gatherings at the church. If you have questions about Shiloh ministries, contact us at secretary@shilohbaptistministry.com.
