Dear Shiloh Family,

William Shakespear once said, “A friend is one that knows you as you are, understands where you have been, accepts what you have become, and still, gently allows you to grow.”

His Quote fitly maps our journey and opens the curtain of the near 45 years at Shiloh.  Some in our family of believers have literally watched Anita and I grow up, both physically and spiritually.  Many of you shake your heads at my pulpit blunders, personalized illustrations, and near misses as a fill-in for the praise team.  All this and more, and you continue to be our dearest friends and virtual family.

My sweetheart and I are overwhelmed by your kind words, beautiful cards, and generous love gifts, not only during the month of October, but throughout the year.  Words cannot express our gratitude.  The gifts were heartwarming, but the fact that we even found a corner of your minds and sentiment multiplied our love for our Shiloh family exponentially.  Thank you all for thinking of us during these hectic and uncertain times.

I echo  the Apostle Paul,

Philippians 1:2-11:  2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, 4 always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, 5 for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; 7 just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers with me of grace. 8 For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ. 9 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, 10 that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, 11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. NKJV

My dear friends, I look forward to communion of the Lord’s Supper with all of you this Sunday.  May God richly bless each and every one of you.  It is my greatest honor and pleasure to serve with you at Shiloh Baptist Church.

It would be impossible to bear the toils of life without the ties of friendship.

God bless you all,

Pastor Derrell
