Dear Shiloh Family,

You know that feeling you get when someone brags on your children or some other member of your family? You know, it’s that rumbling in your gut that works its way upward to expand your chest, form a lump in your throat, swell your head, force your cheeks into a cheesy grin, and begin the battle to hold back liquid from pouring out of your eyes. It’s that healthy, acceptable form of pride.

I was filled with just such overwhelming pride Sunday evening as I made my way through the largest Trunk-or-Treat attendance we’ve ever had at Shiloh. Amid handouts, hugs, handshakes, and happiness, hundreds of costumed children (and parents) paraded through the parking lot and received bags full of goodies. Inside, amidst the aroma of cookies, chips, chili dogs, and children, guests and members dined while the little ones bounced, bobbed, and bounded through the inflatables.

Psalm 57:9-10: 9 I will praise You, O Lord, among the peoples;

I will sing to You among the nations.

10 For Your mercy reaches unto the heavens,

And Your truth unto the clouds. NKJV

However, among all the organized chaos, I heard many of our folks tell visitors about Jesus. I eavesdropped as others invited guests to AWANA, Youth, ADOC, Sunday School, and Worship service. It was an incredible experience to observe a church as it loved on a community regardless of race, color, creed, or culture. Yes, let it be known that I was and still am proud to be called Pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church.

Thanks to all who worked so diligently to make it a wonderful evening of servanthood. My heart overflows with love for you. May God bless and reward you in His loving way.

Matthew 19:14: 14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. KJV

This Sunday, November 6th, the Booth Brothers will be with us in the 11:00 AM service. We will dismiss Sunday School at 10:25 to enable our folks to find a seat and allow them to minister to guests as well.

Remember, every person who walks through the door is a potential new believer in Jesus. Let’s be considerate to members and visitors alike. Greet them at the door, welcome them in, assist them to their seats, move toward the middle of the pews, and most importantly, pray for the Holy Spirit to move in their lives. We are looking forward to an awesome day of praise and worship.

We will be receiving an offering for the Booth Brothers during the service. However, if you can give in advance, please use the envelopes on the backs of the pews, give directly through the office, or give online through our tith.ly app. Please, make checks payable to Shiloh Baptist Church, designate it to the Booth Brothers, and we will write one check from the church.

Psalm 111:1: Praise the Lord!

I will praise the Lord with my whole heart,

In the assembly of the upright and in the congregation. NKJV

Don’t forget, next Tuesday is voting day. Let your voice be heard. I wouldn’t be a good Pastor if I didn’t encourage you to vote based on sound Biblical principles. It’s an awesome opportunity for the church to legally take a stand. Vote!

The only way to waste a day with children, is to not spend it with them.

God bless you all,

Pastor Derrell
