Dear Shiloh Family,

It was a small, two-bedroom, one bath house, but it was the first, and it was ours.  To say it had a full bathroom was stretching it a bit, because you could sit on the toilet, wash your hands, and start the bath water… without moving, it was tiny.  As the Lord blessed, and our family grew, we updated the bathroom, added a laundry room, two porch decks, and a master bedroom complete with tub, walk-in shower, vanity, and large closet…high cotton.  It wasn’t, and still isn’t much, but it has been home to our family for over 35 years.

Likewise, our church home began in a long, narrow, basement.  When Pastor Paul’s sermon volume elevated, the sound reverberated off the walls and down the corridor so loudly the children covered their ears.  Through the leadership of our Pastor and deacons, our family grew.  God’s people opened their giving hearts, and the Lord allowed us to build two new sanctuaries, a family life center and begin a new classroom project which connected the two existing buildings, along with many other improvements to buildings and grounds.

2 Kings 22:4-7: 4 "Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may count the money which has been brought into the house of the Lord, which the doorkeepers have gathered from the people. 5 And let them deliver it into the hand of those doing the work, who are the overseers in the house of the Lord; let them give it to those who are in the house of the Lord doing the work, to repair the damages of the house —  6 to carpenters and builders and masons — and to buy timber and hewn stone to repair the house. NKJV

I am so excited to announce that because of your faithful giving, and God’s bountiful blessings, the men approved two new building projects that will initiate substantial forward progress in our church.

First, we will be adding a sprinkler system to the connector building.  Once the sprinkler is in place, the building committee can recommend further phases in the completion of the new construction.

Second, they voted to upgrade both women’s and men’s restrooms in the old vestibule.  The rooms will be enlarged and equipped with ADA compliant stalls, utilities, and fixtures.

We will hold a special church conference on Wednesday, December 29th with the order of providing details and officially placing the projects on the church books.  Our building committee will oversee the projects.   However, if you have questions, please, feel free to contact me.

This Sunday, December 19th will be our catered Christmas/Thanksgiving dinner immediately after the service. We will be having Sunday School at the regular time. However, for one Sunday only, we will be combining the first and second service at 11:00 AM. There will be NO 8:30 service on the 19th. Please enter how many will be attending and sign up here. You can also contact the church office and tell Melissa you will be attending. It is imperative that we get a count of attendees. David Jones, Terry, and the music team are preparing a special Christmas music program as well. I look forward to a great day in the Lord.

Ladies, there will be a Secret Sisters Reveal Party at the Mean Mug Coffeehouse in Fort Oglethorpe on January 2nd at 1:00 PM.  If you are rejoining for 2022 or a potentially new member, please, pick up a form at Grand Central, fill it out and bring it to the party.  Existing members who are unable to attend the party should give their gifts and forms to Jamie Starr or Christie Bradley.

The Lord builds the church through hands, feet, and hearts of the body of Christ.

God bless you all,

Pastor Derrell
