Dear Shiloh Family,

Life was never boring on the Farm.  There was always some adventure, excursion, or planned family event either in the rearview mirror or on the horizon.

Mom and Dad worked diligently to live life with family.  Surprise trips to the local Dairy King, camping vacations with Pawpaw and Granny, or unexpected 2-day jaunts to Gatlinburg were frequent occurrences.

On one warm summer day, we hung the sprinkler head over the clothes line, placed a tarp underneath it, and were having a ball running, dancing and splashing around as if it were the Walnut Grove Splash Country.  Mom was very cunning.  We had no idea we were actually taking an outdoor shower.  The event was interrupted with a shout of what I thought was, “Hey! Look, the new coat is here.”

For the life of me, I couldn’t figure out why everyone was so excited about a new coat.  And where in the world did it come from?  As we streaked (not literally, but close) through the gate and across the pasture, I realized Dad had said colt, not coat.  The little mare had given birth to a beautiful colt.

I was in awe!  Dad had taught us how to care for the equine mother-to-be.  We fed, watered, and brushed her daily, and were encouraged to keep a watchful eye on her in the event she might need help in the birthing process.  But the great creator designed her perfectly, and she needed no help from us.  The little guy just presented himself, and we celebrated new life.

Shiloh, let’s celebrate new life.  We baptized two in the month of January, and will possibly be baptizing three more in February.  Some of you assisted in the birthing process, but it is certain that salvation was and is happening because of the love and care being administered by the body of Christ.  It is evident your leaders are striving to make the experience lively and exciting.

 Psalm 122:1

122 I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.  KJV

Consequently, the month of February and beginning of March are packed.  There is something happening every week, in fact, almost daily.  Please, read the general announcements for further clarification.  However, I would like to specifically draw your attention to the 26th, our Chest of Joash Day.  We will receive an offering dedicated to the principle of our existing building loan.  I firmly believe paying off the dept is paramount to our progress, and will be instrumental in allowing our church to provide many future ministries for the sake of the Gospel.

My prayer is that our ministry fun is constantly interrupted with shouts of new life.  I pray we all run through the gates of normality and race to embrace new birth in our body of believers.

Psalm 122:9

9 Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek thy good. KJV

It’s difficult to walk the path of doing while sitting on the stool of do-nothing.

God bless you all,
Pastor Derrell
