Dear Shiloh Family,

When I have the time, I enjoy working on old boats.  I guess it’s mainly because I can never justify buying a new one.  Regardless, I have discovered a concept that is relevant to most situations in life.  No matter how much fiberglass, paint, vinyl upholstery, or new hardware is applied to the topside deck, the main concerns lie below the surface of the water.  If the bottom isn’t solid, cosmetics are irrelevant.  Often, the unseen things are the most important.  However, when we understand and solidify the things that keep us afloat, the faith in the unseen, enhances the experience of the visible.

This Sunday, February 12th, Steve Levinson will be presenting the Genesis Seminar.  He will help reinforce our foundational belief in the origins of the great creator’s plan for mankind

Please, make a note of the following schedule: There will be no 8:30 service.  We invite everyone to join us in the Main Auditorium during the 9:45 Sunday School hour when Steve will teach using illusions and Biblical material.  He will present the Genesis evidence of creation in the 11:00 service. At 6:00 PM, He will present an awesome fossil collection and teach the relevance of the flood to Christian belief.

In the future, we would like to have more special services and events on Sunday evening.  Encourage the leaders and support the ministry by attending these services.

The 26th will be our Chest of Joash Day.  We will receive an offering dedicated to the principle of our existing building loan.  I firmly believe paying off the debt is paramount to our progress and will be instrumental in allowing our church to provide many future ministries for the sake of the Gospel.  This is always a special time for our church.  The chest will be placed at the front of the auditorium, and I would like for each family to come as a family unit and deposit their offering while using it as a time of prayer as well.  What a wonderful teaching moment for our children.  Allow them to experience the joy and reverence in giving to the Lord.

If you intend to give online, you can designate your love gift to the special day.  However, please write the amount on a slip of paper and come by with your family to deposit it in the chest.

2 Corinthians 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

In the next couple of weeks, ask the Father how he would have you participate, monetarily or physically, in the work of the body of Christ.

Nothing excites the Father like someone lifting up his Son.

God bless you all,

Pastor Derrell
