Dear Shiloh Family,

Have you found yourself rooted to your favorite chair, near grafted to the television?  We have given new meaning to March Madness.  Planted in front of the media monster, we anticipate the proverbial Ides of March.  Many of us have become enamored with brackets, bombings, business, and bad weather.  Americans are consumed with events that may or may not happen.

We frantically cheer for teams who represent schools we never attended.  We root for mascots we don’t even like to protect our brackets from being “busted.”  Some will gamble great sums of money on 17- and 18-year-old adrenalin filled, momentum driven athletes.

Others are addicted to national news stations that give us minimal half-truths of the real events; or better yet, sit through three almost identical segments of local news broadcasts every evening.

Futilely, misguided souls wring their hands in fear of how the actions of foreign countries will affect our ability to vindicate, recreate, and vacate.  And weather prognostications control when we get groceries, wash the car, or attend the House of God.

I confess; I am guilty of most or all of the aforementioned scenarios.  However, I am becoming more and more affixed to the one who controls it all.  The traps Satan and the world system lay for us will eventually become their inevitable resting place.

Psalm 57:6-7

6 They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves. Selah.

7 My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise. KJV

I encourage you to intentionally pry attention away from the distractions of the lure of the world and divert your hearts and minds to the one who placed the stars and moon into orbit, formed the earth and seas, breathed life into man, and still dwells in the hearts of believers.  He knows you, loves you, and has great plans for you.  My Heavenly Father isn’t the least bit worried about the championship finals, Russia, Ukraine, or gas prices; but He is concerned about every minute of our lives.

Jeremiah 29:11

11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. NKJV
