Dear Shiloh Family,

I knew they would be there; I knew they would eventually come.  Covertly, without fanfare or Pomp and Circumstance, I spread the seed and waited for the ensuing excitement.  History had taught me that a little effort and a bit of faith would bring the flock together.  It took a few days, but eventually the text, accompanied with a pic, came from Mom.

“There’s more than I can count.  The field is covered in turkeys, and there were two huge gobblers.”

I chuckled and replied, “Ha, Ha!  I Spread 50 lbs. of corn last week and didn’t tell anyone.  I knew eventually you would have a show.”

I know, I know.  I should be horse-whipped for leading you on that way.  However, we can apply the same principles to what we are called to do for the Lord.

2 Corinthians 9:6:6 But this I say, He which sows sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he who sows bountifully shall reap also bountifully. NKJV

Mark 4:14: 14 The sower sows the word. NKJV

My Dad, and our Pastor Emeritus, didn’t have a special formula for raising children.  He didn’t coin earth-shaking quotes that we had never heard, or other fathers had not said.  No, he simply continued to live for Jesus and follow the principles of God’s word, daily.  His leadership in and around the church was much the same.  Stay the course, love God in every way possible, and look for new avenues in which to love people.

I’m well aware that the work of the Lord often seems unrewarding and lonely.  In a fast-food world, it is difficult to wait for the heavenly entrée.  I encourage you to continue to do what you are doing; keep presenting the Gospel of Jesus to the lost world, keep inviting folks to the table, and above all, have faith that the Lord will provide the increase.  Keep spreading the seed, and the flock will come.

1 Thessalonians 1:8: 8 For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing. KJV

John 12:32: 32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.  KJV

We are joining many churches in the GBMB in the “6 for 6” project.  You will be given a prayer card this Sunday.  Please list 6 people/families and agree to fast and pray for them for the next 6 weeks.  Along with your prayers, extend an invitation to join us on Easter Sunday morning.  Your Pastors and Praise Team will do our best to present the Gospel of Jesus to them.  I’m looking forward to great things on this day and future days as well.

Each year the GBMB provides a means of assisting our North American Missions.  The Annie Armstrong Easter offering is designated to go directly to our GBMB missionaries.  Between now and March 13th, we will be receiving donations for the Annie Armstrong gift from our church.  Please, pray what God would want you to give.  You can designate your love gift through the offering plate, or through online giving.

Barriers of unbelief are often broken by the persistence of unwavering belief.

God bless you all,

Pastor Derrell

General Announcements:  If you have announcements for the newsletter or Sunday morning service, please get them to Melissa by 12:00 PM on Wednesday.  This will allow the AV team to process relative schedules, letters, videos, etc…

Covid News: Your startup team, who kept us safe through the original crises, is monitoring the virus situation.  We are continuing to sanitize the main auditorium and outlying areas.   If you are concerned about social distancing, you might consider coming to the early (8:30 AM) service because the numbers are somewhat less.  However, there is still room in the second service as well.  I encourage you to continue attending, but please, be considerate of those who are more vulnerable or might have concerns.

Please!  If you are sick, have experienced symptoms in recent days, or think you might have been exposed, stay home.  We can’t eliminate the virus, but we can help prevent an outbreak in our church.

YEARLY TAX STATEMENTS:  Your annual charitable contribution statements are ready and are located in the main auditorium vestibule.  PLEASE, PICK THEM UP THIS WEEK!

ONLINE GIVING: We are pleased to announce our new text giving platform. Simply text the word "Give" to (844) 949-4039. You can also use our smartphone app. You can still give via mail as well.

The church address is:  Shiloh Baptist Church, 24 Kay St., Rossville, GA  30741.

We will continue to stream the 11:00 service as usual.  If you are sick, please stay home.  The staff and I understand how uncomfortable mass gatherings can be for some of you during these unusual times.    We don’t want anyone to feel pressured into coming if you are not comfortable doing so.

If you choose to meet at the church during the week, PLEASE!  Let Melissa know the time and location (room) for your ministries.  It is imperative that we coordinate all gatherings at the church. If you have questions about Shiloh ministries, contact us at secretary@shilohbaptistministry.com.
