Dear Shiloh Family,

Isn’t it comforting to appreciate someone who knows the truth through experience?  Recently, I was watching a western, and the storekeeper was introducing Swiss Chocolate to the western frontier.   “It melts in your mouth,” he coaxed the cowboy.

“What does it taste like?  Is it sweet?” inquired the wrangler.”

Sheepishly, almost apologetically, the salesman replied, “Honestly, I’ve never tasted it.  It’s too expensive for me.”

I would have a problem with that!  Never trust a Ford salesman who drives a Toyota.  I love it when a restaurant server points out his/her favorite entrée, and the fact that others frequently enjoy it as well.  Sounds great to me; serve it up.

When Jesus offers eternal life, He presents it with authority.  On the morning of the third day following the death of our Lord, visitors peered into an empty tomb.  That tomb remains empty today, because the risen Savior walked out of what was meant to be the final resting place.

Mark 16:6: 6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him. KJV

Not only did my Lord defeat the grave, He also broke the chains that bound him behind the stone.   In the Revelation, John was given a glimpse of the heavenly kingdom in which this same Jesus now resides.  And, Oh Yes, he holds the keys to death and hell.  He not only defeated them, but he also controls them.

Revelation 1:17-18: 17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:

18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. KJV

He has tasted it, He has ridden it, and when the time comes, He will see us through it.  He is the authority.  You can trust Him!

Resurrection Sunday is almost here!  We will begin the day with a Sunrise Service at 7:00 AM.  Kami and her team will serve breakfast immediately following.  Sunday School will follow the breakfast at the normal 9:45 hour, and we will have an outdoor/drive-up worship experience at 11:00.  The College/Career ministry is sponsoring an Easter Egg hunt to cap off the morning.  What a great day.  Please pray for God’s presence and good weather.

Easter is one day that determines all eternity.

God bless you all,

Pastor Derrell
