Dear Shiloh Family

The past few days have been far from usual, and Wednesday was borderline exceptional.  It culminated with a parking lot full of vehicles and a busy campus.

Along with all the other ministries, I can’t think of a better way to usher in a sunset than have it filled with the laughter and excitement of a successful end of the year AWANA celebration.  I am so proud of our AWANA workers and how they pour the love of Jesus into the little ones.

Earlier in the day, David and I were visited by the Superintendent of a local school system.  She and her secretary presented us with a couple of congratulatory certificates, one for being a Walker County B.E.A.T. Faith Partner, and the other bestowing Faith Partner-of-the-Year honors.   The accolades were based heavily on our participation in the Angel Tree project during the Christmas season.  Though David and I received the awards and posed for photos, the praise goes to Melissa for her tireless coordination and communication efforts, to the College and Career ministry for heading up the project, but most of all, to all the people who adopted one or more of the Angels and selflessly purchased those wonderful gifts.

Jesus loves the little children, and he notices when you love them as well.  The community respects and appreciates a church family that reaches out to their families. I am forever grateful and totally amazed at your compassion and generosity.  May God richly bless you all.

Psalm 127:3-4: 3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

Matthew 18:4-5:  4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven 5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. KJV

We have another opportunity to extend love and spend time with our kids.  VBS is rapidly approaching, and we need workers.  If you can teach, read, write, sing, dance, pour Kool Aid, decorate, laugh, clap your hands, love, receive love, or enjoy fellowship, you are a candidate to be a VBS volunteer.  We need you, but more importantly, the kids need to see you and know you care.  Volunteers - please sign up here

The church is only a building, until it is filled with God’s people.

God bless you all,

Pastor Derrell
