Dear Shiloh Family,

Occasionally, we get a chance to pin a metaphorical rose on someone.  This week, I am returning the metaphorical for the literal.  Last Sunday, Mother’s Day, you may have noticed that Dad, Mom, Anita, and I were all sporting boutonniere roses.  Dad and Mom donned white ones, while Anita and I wore red because our moms were alive and present in the worship service.

Several years ago, a sweet lady began the tradition of providing and pinning a Mother’s Day rose on Pastor and wife.  When I was installed as Senior Pastor, Anita and I were added to the annual list.  It may not seem like much, but the unnamed ladies’ unselfish, behind-the-scenes care for her pastors allows us to openly display our love and appreciation for our moms.

Likewise, her husband exemplifies some of the same qualities.  When you enter the church each Sunday, the doors are unlocked, the lights are on, and the HVAC is running. And, if we have a baptizing, the pool is clean, full, and bubble-bath-warm.

Thank you, Bill, and Jody Newbille, for these, and many other unseen gifts of service to your church and Lord.

Wednesday, we celebrated AWANA awards night.  Children received achievement awards and promotional applause.  Another precious student proclaimed faith in Jesus, the fourth in as many weeks.  What a wonderful night in the Lord.  However, none of it would have come to fruition without the tireless, sometimes thankless efforts of Craig, Shae, Bradley, Jensen, and all the AWANA staff and leaders.

Psalm 37:18: 18 The Lord knows the days of the upright, And their inheritance shall be forever.  NKJV

I hope you’re getting the picture.  For every one thing we observe on the surface and on the stage of the Shiloh ministry, there are many more moving, loving, caring servants beneath the water, and behind the curtain.

Thanks to all of you who are never seen, and always present.  Though it may seem you are seldom acknowledged, you are not unnoticed or unappreciated.  May God bless you all.

If you are a Staff person, ministry leader, teacher, helper, or just interested in the future of Shiloh, please, attend the SALT meeting Sunday evening at 6:00.  Sandwiches and deserts will be provided.

Matthew 6:18

…but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.  NKJV

Unsought hidden treasures usually remain unfound.

God bless you all,
Pastor Derrell
