Dear Shiloh Family,

Did Jesus feed the five thousand solely for the benefit of the five thousand, or was it directed to his 12 closest followers?  The five thousand certainly reaped the immediate harvest of His love and mercy.  However, some of them had no idea a miracle had been wrought before their very eyes.

On the other hand, the Lord allowed the disciples to assist in the distribution and collection of the multiplied meal.  Because of this and other supernatural occurrences, the lives of these men would be forever altered and rerouted.  This one small meal for so many, would encourage the few followers of Jesus to preach a gospel that changed the world.

Dad and I were having this conversation this week as I reminded him of the little things he and mom had done for so many, and how those tiny pieces of bread, and parcels of fish, were still providing spiritual nourishment to many even today.

 Matthew 25:40

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. KJV

Shiloh, my soul weeps, and my heart pleads that you would not take the small things for granted.  Please, know that nothing you do for our Lord  is insignificant.  He is multiplying every effort.  Don’t give up, you are making a difference.  Your small lunch may feed a multitude.  One fish or morsel of bread may give sustenance to a hungry soul.  More importantly, your obedience may ignite a flame that roars into revival fires.  Someone is watching, listening, and following.

Once in a football game, I tackled my own teammate.  As I approached the sideline, my coach shook his head, put his arm around me, and snidely remarked, “O’Neal, please tell me, just whose team are you on?” We must remember why we do what we do and for whom we do it.

Thank you so much for the prayers for Dad, your Pastor Emeritus.  As of Wednesday night, he is showing signs of recovery.  His oxygen levels are better, and the antibiotics appear to be having some effect on the pneumonia.  However, he has a long way to go, so please, continue to pray for him and mom.

Your availability is often a window to allow the world to see God’s ability.

God bless you all,

Pastor Derrell
