Dear Shiloh Family,

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house.  For the first time in more than two years, we heard a much-too-long silent word from our Pastor.  We soaked it in like sponges and dared to move for fear of interruption.  Even some of the students that filtered in after the benediction seemed to sense something different had occurred.  He preached Psalm 122, “I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord.”  AND WE WERE!

It wasn’t just the sermon content that captured us. In fact, the simplicity and directness were quite familiar. It wasn’t because we had almost said our last goodbyes in a Vanderbilt hospital bed only two weeks prior.  And it wasn’t merely because he stood unattended for nearly 45 minutes.

No!  it was much more than that.  It was that we all knew the Holy Spirit was speaking through a living, walking miracle.  Though his voice was projected through the PA system, the walls, pews, and furnishings seem to breathe the gospel.  It was the delivery of love, compassion, and gratitude that mesmerized us.  Those legs that often wobble and quake stood strong and firm for those moments.  We came hungry and left full.  We were reminded that our Heavenly father still performs miracles.

However, the impact was not that we were awed by a great Pastor or exceptional man.  On the contrary, his entire demeanor…body language, delivery, intentions, seemed to scream, “OH WHAT A SAVIOR!”  As we exited the building, I think we all should have yelled from the top of our lungs, “What a mighty God we serve!”

Great things are happening in and around every ministry of Shiloh.  Get involved in everything you can.  You never know when the Holy Spirit will show up in a mighty way.  Don’t miss it!

Brother David Mercer asked me to remind everyone that Sunday is move-up Sunday for all the age-related SS classes.  Teachers, please arrive early.  Escort and introduce the ones moving up to their new teachers.

Jeremiah 32:17-18

17 'Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You. 18 You show lovingkindness to thousands, and repay the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them — the Great, the Mighty God, whose name is the Lord of hosts. NKJV

Since he is the same God of the Prophets of old, we should serve Him with the same faith today.

God bless you all,

Pastor Derrell
