Dear Shiloh Family,

If we only knew her name, first name, last name, nick name… anything; we would be honored to mention it in public gatherings, name our daughters and granddaughters the same, and maybe write songs about her.  Not to presume intentions of the Holy Script, but she quite possibly could have been found amongst the heroes of faith in Hebrews 11.   On the contrary, her lot was to fade away in obscurity known only as the little maiden, the servant girl, the slave.

However, the young ladies’ faith will be forever remembered.  She will always be known as the captive who saved the captor, the worker who witnessed, and the servant who introduced the Savior. Circumstances would have permitted her to remain silent and let leprosy impose her revenge.  Instead, she referred Naaman, her captor, to the Prophet in her homeland.  More importantly, she testified about the power of the God of her heritage.

2 Kings 5:3

3 She said to her mistress, "If only my master would see the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy." NIV

I think, for me, it would be OK to be remembered as that dad who taught his children about Jesus and brought them to church every time the doors were opened, that coach who valued Christian values and integrity over the X’s and O’s of football, and the Pastor who preached Jesus and God’s word over public opinion and political correctness.  My world may not remember my name, but they will remember where, or in whom I placed my faith.

The Apostle Paul said it best:

Philippians 3:7-8

7 But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. 8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ.  NKJV

Fellow believer, each of you have a gift, bestowed upon you when you asked Jesus into your life.  God is pleased when you exercise His gift.  When we extend love and compassion to others, in the name of Jesus, and introduce Him as the only answer to all problems, God the Father becomes evident and preeminent to all things.  To God be the glory.

People travel miles to enjoy the brightness of the sun.  Likewise, the light of the Son attracts searchers.

God bless you all,

Pastor Derrell
