Dear Shiloh Family,

How important is it to be involved in small group, Sunday school, or church ministry?  A recent study by a well-known national research center indicated that only 16% of people who only join a church remain in that church for a long period.  However, 80% of folks who actively participate in small groups and church ministries not only stay, but they also get their children and family members involved as well, and often build lifetime relationships, not to mention the spiritual growth and maturity that occurs during the process. The pattern was laid out in the Acts of the Apostles.

Acts 2:46-47

46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.  NIV

Consequently, continuing along those thought lines, we have so many functioning, moving, thriving parts of the Shiloh body, alive and well.  However, we need volunteers in most every ministry, most of which are listed in the general or ministry announcements.  Here are a few of the up-and-coming:

  • Tomorrow night after the football games, the youth ministry is sponsoring a 5th quarter party in the FLC.  Brother David and his team can use as many volunteers as possible.

  • September 13th will be the first night of the new ladies’ Bible study.

  • September 18th will be our next Man Church dinner and worship service.  Invite men to come, especially unsaved or unchurched.

  • October 2nd will be a one-day evangelistic conference featuring Dr. Larry Moyer, with Evantell Ministries.  He will be sharing the need for evangelism and training our leaders on how to lead others to Jesus.

  • Brother David Mercer can use Sunday School teachers.  If you feel led to teach, please pray for God’s guidance, and then contact Bro. David.

  • The choir is practicing every other Thursday night.  What a great time to get involved with this awesome ministry!

From our heart:  Our heart is broken, and our prayers are extended for Brother Mark and Sister Linda Napier in the passing of her mother, Delores Nicely.  Please be in prayer for this family.

Often, church ministry is like looking at your family portrait that you’re not in.

God bless you all,

Pastor Derrell
