Dear Shiloh Family,
The two mongrels ascended on the three unsuspecting kittens with lightning speed. The predatorial survival instincts of the mamma cat immediately kicked in and she bravely split the two k9’s down the middle and led them away from her babies.
The ring cam caught every move as the feline passed within inches of the large black pitbull mix. The dog took a nip but the miniature cheetah mounted the back porch rail in a single bound and sped up to the deck. The race wasn’t even close until the new mamma ran out of real estate. For her babies, there was only one option, and she bailed off the top rail into the waiting jaws of the large brindle pit on the ground. When the black partner in crime arrived, the fight didn’t last long…it was over in a matter of seconds. However, the unselfish sacrifice had given the trio of kittens ample time to reach their safe haven.
I’ve heard many stories of how animals in nature have banded together to protect their young. If it is imprinted in wild beasts to nurture, train, and teach survival to little ones, surely, we as logical beings created in the image of God can figure it out.
I’m not talking about fighting wild beast or other heroic deeds. No! I’m just speaking of love, discipline, discernment, and surrounding them with Godly examples.
Ephesians 6:4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord. NKJV
Jesus loved little children, often placing them on his knee and comparing our faith to that of the little ones. God loved us, His children so much, he sacrificed His only son so that we might live.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. KJV
Satan hates our kids and is descending on them with rapid ferocity. We must fight for them and join together to keep them safe. We can begin by supporting the youth and children’s ministries here at Shiloh.
This Sunday begins our VBS week. Anita and the team have gone to great lengths and spent countless hours preparing the way that will provide opportunities to lead these tender hearts to a saving knowledge of Jesus. Please, give, come, and most of all PRAY that the Holy Spirit will move in Shiloh this week.
1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. NKJV
We are prone to complain about this generation of kids…each time I look in the mirror, I’m reminded of who raised them.
God bless you all,
Pastor Derrell
